Kim, I would suggest doing the 50  mile section from Cascade locks/Eagle
creek up to Timberline Lodge. It is far more scenic than the 50 miles just
North of Cascade Locks. If you're heading from Portland, a public bus
leaves from Vancouver, WA twice a day and goes all the way to bridge of the
Gods. From there, all you have to do is cross the bridge. Hitching a ride
from Timberline lodge should be easy.
