Yeah, I've seen bear tracks where the bear just walked by my canister, not even bothering to kick it over to see if something might fall out. In one such incident the bear walked by the can to grab a bag of hung food.

That bear was undoubtedly shot by the rangers, all because someone couldn't be bothered to carry a canister.
