Howdy Colin,

>From what I see driving everyday and my experiences hiking in the area these last few weeks I would say it might be a bit early, unless you really enjoy postholing.

Between Castle Crags to Mt. Eddy you should be OK; some snow exists on west and south slopes of Mt. Eddy but looks patchy. However, be prepared to encounter snow on north and east aspects above 7000 feet in the Trinity Mountains; the Marbles usually melt out a little slower. Snow conditions are mostly benign slushy spring snow though I know that there are still some gnarly steep drifts in the Marbles (particularly before Etna summit); it may be possible to ridge-walk around these if you enjoy scrambling.

The webcam at Crater Lake: http://www.nps.gov/crla/photosmultimedia/webcams.htm is always fun to look at.

Best,

EnviroPyro
