Here's some information on known work parties on the noted section, plus known log out status:
- WTA will do a log out on the middle part of the trail between White and Chinook Pass August 9-12 as part of a bigger loop.
- WTA has a log out from White pass north to the above work party location on August 19-23, plus other trails in the area.
- The PCTA crew will do log out and tread repair of an avalanche debris field about 6.5 miles south of Snoqualmie on August 10 and 16-17.
- The PCTA crew will possibly do log out of some of the area around Tacoma Pass during their Aug 24-26 brushing trip in the area - there are about 6 logs down from Blowout Mountain north to Tacoma Pass.
- PCTA will have a crew doing tread and drainage work north from White pass on August 18.
- Blow down status from Stampede Pass north to 2 miles south of Yakima Pass/ Twilight Lake is unknown at this time.
- PCTA will have brushing crews out south of Stampede Pass on the 1st and 4th of August.
The 5 miles immediately south of Snoqualmie Pass are log free (cleared earlier in July.) Between Stampede Pass and Tacoma Pass (~10+ miles) there are only 2 logs down about 1.7 miles north of Tacoma Pass - one a super easy step over, the other takes about 10 seconds to clamber over. The blow down for ~2 miles south of Twilight Lake / Yakima Pass was cleared July 22. Centered roughly on the Government Meadow / Camp Ulrich area, the Back Country Horsemen report that the trail has been cleared of blow down from Airplane Meadow to Green Pass.
Bottom Line: Much of the section you intend to hike from August 29 to Sept 6 will have been logged out. Also, in general, the bugs have died by then as well.
