A good pair of shoes lasts about 500 miles. You will need about 5 pair
to complete the trail.

Those stores are not on the trail, and do not always serve hot food. You
will need to carry your food, and may want to be able to cook it while
on the trail.

Because parts of it will be buried under snow, and not all trail
intersections are marked.

If you think the trail is stupid, you may prefer to spend your time
elsewhere.
