[pct-l] ride advice Timberline to Portland and Phone thoughts

Hi Roger -

My experience is that it is very easy to catch a ride from Timberline to Portland.  Lots of day hikers leaving Timberline area, especially in the afternoon.  Gresham is a good destination since you can catch the MAX to most anywhere in the Portland area.

About phones: not to stir up trouble, but I think they are a waste of time on the trail.  Most of the resorts have land lines.  many cards will work - although the one i was most recently carrying didn't seem to work well.  check it at home before hitting the back country.
