Down to tiny Campo
Came hiker Switchback one day.
Finally On the trail again
and with lots of water
Sure, he was glad,

Singing songs from California,
Oregon and Washington,
Till Switchback got excited,
when he shouted to everyone near:

It's a long way to Canada,
It's a long way to go.
It's a long way to Canada
on the easist trail I know!
Goodbye, Mexico, Farewell, California!
It's a long long way to Canada,
and I'll be there before you know.
(repeat)

Switchback wrote a letter
To his friend Reinhold,
Saying, "Should you not receive this,
Write and let me know!"
"If I make mistakes in spelling," he said,
"Remember, it's the pen that's bad,
Don't lay the blame on me!"

It's a long way to Canada,
It's a long way to go.
It's a long way to Canada
on the easist trail I know!
Goodbye, Mexico, Farewell, California!
It's a long long way to Canada,
and I'll be there before you know.

Reinhold wrote a neat reply to Switchback,
Saying you better pick up the pace,
and cut your pack weight
Or you'll be the blame,
For not reaching Canada before the
winter storms come once again.

It's a long way to Canada,
It's a long way to go.
It's a long way to Canada
on the easist trail I know!
Goodbye, Mexico, Farewell, California!
It's a long long way to Canada,
and I'll be there before you know.
