[pct-l] What the weather is telling us

It is indeed shaping up to be a monumentally dry year. As our resident
climatologist Dr. Ken Murray has pointed out, each day that passes
without precip decreases the chances of a normal snow pack.

But beware...

No one can tell you what March or April will be like. The probabilities
of them being below normal, normal or *above normal* is still quite equal.

Why is that important?

Because if you set a start date now based on the lack of precip, you may
well find yourself marching north from the border in a monumentally wet,
cold, windy, snowy and early April.

A trail crew changing a project date from mid-July to mid-June *is not*
a valid comparison to a thru-hiker start date.

It's all speculation, you have plenty of time to 'wait and see'. Don't
be in a rush to hike in miserable conditions.
