Michal,
Judging by what your priorities are, I would suggest you consider doing
the northern section of the JMT (John Muir Trail) from Yosemite to
Vermilion Resort.

Since the vast majority of the JMT is also the PCT you would meet three
of your objectives....hike the JMT, PCT, and Yosemite (three gems of
American wilderness).
The total distance is 90-95 miles and takes you through some of the most
scenic wilderness areas anywhere in the world.
And at around 10 miles a day you will have time to stop and enjoy the
spectacular scenery.
Since the elevation at Yosemite Valley is at around 4,000 feet you will
have time to get acclimated by the time you get to 11,056 foot Donohue
Pass at mile 37 on or about day four.
The other good thing, you could resupply at Tuolumne Meadow, mile 23
or Reds Meadow, mile 58.
Both Reds and Tuolumne have stores and restaurants with great food.
When you get to Mono Creek at Lake Thomas Edison you can either walk
another 5-6 miles along the lake to Vermilion Resort or take the boat.
Vermilion Resort runs a little boat shuttle in the morning and afternoon
to pick up and drop of hikers at the trail.

Permits, starting at Happy Isles (Yosemite), should not be a problem.
You will, however, be required to carry a bear canister which you can
purchase or rent in Yosemite Valley.

Michal, I guarantee you the spectacular beauty of the trail will remain
ingrained in your memory for the rest of your life and you will come back
to hike it again and again.

The "JMT" IS LIKE A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN.....and once bitten forever hooked.

I know.....I got bitten many years ago.....and every summer since she has
been calling me.

Hi,
In July, I intend to organize trekking on selected part of PCT or John
Muir Trail together with my 13 year old daughter. I would like to ask
you which route and which segment of the route you suggest? During the
route selection I have to remember about these: \
- we would like spend 10 days on the trail
- my daughter is very fit but day distances should not be too long
- it would be good if the starting and ending point is easy to achieve
via public transportationt
(maybe it is good idea to start from Yosemite Valley because I need to
borrow bear canister)
- beautiful landscapes are important for us (and I would like to see
Yosemity) but we do not want to go in the crowd (we prefer rather remote
places to camp)
- it would be good if the there is one resupply point in the middle of
route -- I will carry most of our equipment.

BTW. What are the chances to get thruhike permission for July?
