[pct-l] Good warm-up/gear test hike in the South West

Hello,
I am looking for a good hike to test out all my PCT before I go on my actual hike this spring. I am looking for a hike that will take 1 or 2 weeks to complete. The PCT is taking a significant chunk out of my savings so I would prefer if the hike was located in the Southwest somewhere so that I don't have to spend a bunch of money traveling there (I am located in LA). Otherwise I am open to all ideas and would be interested in hearing about hikes that other people have done to warm-up/test gear for the PCT. The optimal timing of this hike for me would be late February to early March. I was considering the JMT since it is actually part of the PCT but I'm almost certain that the snow will be to soft for that to happen.
