I stopped taking Ibuprofen years ago when it caused me twinges of hear
pain soon after taking it and I also noticed my muscles did not
develop toughness as fast during backpacking when I took it. Several
years ago they finally included a heart attack warning on the label.
Instead of going cold turkey into a hike,  I do extensive walking
with a pack to get my muscles ready. I don't miss it at all.
