You will encounter many areas where fires are banned. Starting out in 
section A there is a year round ban on open fires in the National Forest. 
The regulations in state park lands make it impractical. You'll find many 
more no fire areas in Southern California and further north you'll encounter 
elevation restrictions and seasonal fire bans.

Many hike without cooking.
