That would be a good name, but mine is Eeyore.
I did not buy the phone just for the trail, although that was a consideration. I like it a lot, even though it was only the 'latest & greatest' for a short time.
Using the SPOT Connect does require either an iPhone and Android phone and the cost and weight for that combo is worth it for me (actually for my wife's piece of mind).

"Old Eyes" sounds like a trail name! I can relate to that. Was the cost worth it?

I lugged along a Driod Bionic with a pair of extended batteries and Verizon coverage this year. It is a bit bulky and needs to be used only sparingly to conserve the battery. But the GPS seems to work pretty well and would always show me on trail when using Backcountry Navigator loaded with half mile maps. The screen is not readable in bright sun but shielding it with your body usually helps. It is large enough to be more easily readable for folks with older eyes and that was a plus. I use it occasionally for navigation, for sending messages out through my SPOT and sending text messages to my wife when I had coverage (which I did a surprising amount of time in central and southern Oregon and even a few times in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness in Washington. I had the Oregon/Washington Wilderness Press trail guide in PDF loaded but did not use it. I could also have watched movies, read books or listened to music with it, although never did. While there may well be better phones, this one worked well for me.
