[pct-l] Washington section I hike

I'm still hoping to finish the PCT by doing Washington I and a bit of J
over the week before and after Labor Day.

I'm hoping on the one hand that the Taylor Bridge fire doesn't get worse,
especially in a westward direction,
and on the other hand that the weather doesn't change so damply that
I couldn't light a fire to save my life. Fortunately the long-term
forecast suggests moderate temperatures and no rain for a while.

Anybody else who needs to finish section I, and wants to do so as a
series of dayhikes and one-night backpacks, may review my plan and get
in touch if interested.

While section hiking and day hiking, the guide books by the Sembs have
been instrumental, but they seem to be out of print now. I was
hoping the newer Wilderness Press books on Day and Section Hikes would
be suitable replacements, but they are completely different in scope:
they are about interesting dayhikes that happen to include a few miles
of PCT, rather than dayhiking as much of the more-interesting and
less-interesting parts of the PCT as possible. Section hikers know
or soon discover that the principal challenge is arranging car shuttles
or other means of getting back to where you started, and the Semb books
are invaluable for planning that.
