[pct-l] warm jacket

HELP!! I am going to take advantage of the sales on warm jackets and finally purchase a good jacket for hiking/backpacking. REI has a sale through tomorrow on Patagonia’s Eco Puff Jacket. How much does that differ from down? Is it the usual pro/con having to do with getting it wet? Any other major differences between down and other materials?
