Mammoth Mountain picked up another 8.5 inches of snow last night bringing
the new snow total, since Sunday, to 20 inches. There's a chance of more
snow falling today before clearing up over the next few days. Mammoth’s
snow base depth is 11’-19’ (this is a packed powder base) with fresh
powder, and machine groomed snow. The mountain will be *open daily through
July 4th* this season*!!!!!! *So, get out the snowshoes, tune up the cross
country skis and don't forget your ice axe training. The central Sierra
passes will snowy for the majority of the hiking season. If you don't have
training in use of an ice axe to arrest yourself should you fall, you might
want to consider getting off the trail... multiple rescues already this
season and it's only mid-May. Don't be stubborn and become a statistic.
