If you can't find a course, try to find the book "Freedom of the Hills" by
the Mountaineers out of Seattle. Best book on basic mountaineering - it has
a  good chapter on how to use an ice axe as well as other snow climbing
skills.

Easterner looking for ice axe self arrest course. This year. Probably in the

west (I live in CT if available somewhere in the east before June.)
Preferably
