depending where you are, there may be a NOLS mountain survival course... i took 
one in british columbia and one in manitoba,  both were excellent.

ned is one of our greatest contributors... he is one here frequently.

Easterner looking for ice axe self arrest course. This year. Probably in the 
west (I live in CT if available somewhere in the east before June.) Preferably 
Oregon or Washington State if June or July.
