Sorry John, but I totally agree with everything Patti said. Pepper spraying my dog would be very dangerous for YOUR health. I would totally FREAK if ANYONE hurt my dog. Not cool.

OMG chill out freak! not only am I a responsible pet owner but my dog really IS
nice. He doesn't even lick or jump or bark. Everyone that met him on the PCT
last year LOVED Frankie! and said what a great dog he was. And u don't have to
worry if I am anywhere near u while I'm hiking, I'll make sure I go down the
side of the mountain if I have to just to avoid any contact, even if it's only
verbal, with u! It's too bad that ur only experience with dogs is only with
aggressive and viscious ones. The only place for them is NOT at home and I DO
respect him by giving him the excercise that he needs...not leaving him home to
get fat and lazy and making sure that he continues to be socialized so he's not
a freak like u! relax and enjoy ur hike!

Up here in the Lost Coast 99% of the folks out hiking do not like dogs
on trails.

In the last four months I have pepper sprayed three dogs all coming at
me with intent to harm.

"it's a nice dog" is a lie - so stop trying to tell the rest of us on
the trail such.

I hike with hiking poles, and to many dogs, that is a club and I am
going to beat the crap out of its owner with a club, therefore it must
defend -- which, results in my Mean Green pepper spray nailing the dog
in the face when they get about 8-12 feet from me going hell bent for
my destruction.

I hate to be one of those "anti-dog" people -- I use to train dogs for
a living and have worked with some vicious K9's direct from Germany --
but dogs on the trail is not a place for dogs to be. Especially as
more and more people are out there with clubs... err... I mean, hiking
poles.

For the record, every single dog owner that I have pepper sprayed (5
so far this year) have been very sorry that their dogs came at me, and
were not the least bit upset at their dog being green and not able to
see. The last dog, got the crap beat out of it by its owner, as I was
walking away.

Respect your dogs and your fellow hikers - keep them at home.

John
