Thanks everyone.

I'll order that book today. I may get the big atlas books too. I'm thinking I will also set her up with my old DeLorme GPS and have her hook it to her laptop. Then we can build her routes to trailheads and waypoints and such. She isn't too techie though, so I'll wait to see that book. If she likes the maps and directions in it, maybe that's all she will want.

It's not a done deal yet though. It looks like she will be following me though. As was suggested, her plan is to hang out at trail crossings and play mobile trail angel. She gets all excited when she says, "I'm gonna be a trail angel!" :)

This also means I may get to hike with my dog(s) more. Now I have to figure out exactly where they can and can't go. Like I wasn't already stressing about the needed preparations, now there is this HUGE additional layer of details I need to figure out. I wish I hadn't agreed to stay at work until April 1.

Thanks again everyone for the help. I'm still looking for someone that's "driven" the PCT that would be willing to talk off list. I think my wife would a little more at ease if she could talk to someone that has done this. She's more excited than nervous, but even I have my concerns for her safety. I think I'll be safer on the trail! lol. I know my fellow hikers will watch out for her though. :)
