I'll second AsABat's recommendation of "Day Hikes on the Pacific Crest
Trail - California" by George & Patricia Semb. We've used it for
years. It'll guide to to trail crossings in places you might not have
expected. Some are so remote she may want to take a dog, gun, flare,
and machete. The maps and directions have been right on and easy to
use. Haven't tried the OR/WA version but would expect the same quality
from Semb.

You're likely to be a very popular hiker this year.
