> How do they define "North" "Central" and "South"?

(Referring to the CDEC charts links given earlier:
<http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cdecapp/snowapp/swcchart.action>...)

By river/watershed basins:
"North" = Trinity through Feather & Truckee,
"Central" = Yuba & Tahoe through Merced & Walker,
"South" = San Joaquin through Kern & Owens,
per the CDEC website...

>From a PCT perspective that would be
"South" = southern Sierra to Reds Meadow/Donohue Pass
"Central" = Donohue Pass to (North of) Sierra City
"North" = N of Sierra City to (S of) Carter Meadows Summit...
The Russian Wilderness & Marble Mountain Wilderness areas N of the
Trinities receive approximately/roughly equal snowfall as the Trinities.

Hope that helps!

Happy trails!!!
Jim (PITA)
