[pct-l] Section O update...

[Guthrie Nutter]

Just finished Section O NOBO on the 26th from Burney;

- cougar sighting from 40-50 feet away at mile 1437; looked thin, didn't run away, just walked off on trail.  

- lovely poison oak, flies and skeeters to keep you company.  

- 97% snow-free except for rough patches near Mushroom Rock.  Crampons/microspikes recommended.  Much kick-stepping in snow.  

-Two blow down areas; 1 of redwoods around 1460's and 1 of oaks at early 1480's.  

-good water sources; nice respite from the heat.  

-baby scorpion at 1439 campsite facing Shasta.
