.. and besides .. you may have a very nice encounter with them .. as I did.  
George's comment on my and my daughters permit app (he had a question about one 
.. and called me to find out info! - nice guy!):  Trail magic!


 
 Wonderful to see family doing this hike together, This trip will create many 
beautiful memories and even get to know each other even better, if one can get 
through this journey, one can get through anything together.

while this is apparently very true,

it doesn't hurt to follow the law, and not doing so much end up sucking.   ... 
i'd go ahead and send in the paper it's free.

I've heard stories that in all likelihood, the Canadian Official will
look at the paper strangely, And go, "What is this? Never seen one of
these before...."
