One pair, no spares. That goes for all clothing except socks and  
possibly hats. One, no backup. Everything should be able to be worn  
all at once without duplication of an item. You don't need spares. If  
your underwear needs washing on the trail, rinse and wear dry. If  
that idea bothers you, rinse in the evening and sleep without it and  
then put it on dry in the morning.
