[pct-l] Avoiding humans, snakes, dogs, push ups and trekking poles on the PCT

California IS an  open carry state but since it IS California of course there are lots of restrictions including the weapon being unloaded. 

But generally I don't see much need for a gun on the PCT.

But please control your dog. A leah is a good thing even if you only use it when approaching unknown hikers. Last year my wife and I had to cut a couple day hikes short because of the number of"friendly" dogs that wouldn't leave our dog alone even after asking their owners. At least parts of California it is the law that a dog be leashed including San Diego County except for some small dog parks.

Dogs and b1cyc1es have a similar problem in that a few irresponsible folk can by their actions result in even more trails being closed to them.
