Last year there were quite a few back trackers.  Some had the DUI issue, but
most commonly they hadn't gotten around to getting the permit from Canadian
authorities to cross over at that point.  Do it now.  If you have any
question about crossing this year, do it now.  Toward the end of summer
there was a lot of anxiety on trail from folks who had waited.  Some got the
documents, and others did not.
