Unfortunately, Snoqualmie Pass tends not to be hiker friendly. L
I currently live here at Snoqualmie Pass and was able to host a few through
hikers last year as well as hiking 190 miles of the PCT in Washington State
just on day hikes on the weekends.
There are 2 re-supply options.
First, send to the "Snoqualmie Pass, WA 98068" General Delivery and clearly
label that it is for a Through Hiker. Unless something changes (our post
office was closed abruptly a few years ago), you will find your package at
the Chevron, which is where the Post Office is located. The Post Office is
only open between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. approximately, and most likely
the Chevron people will hold your box behind the counter. Last year,
however, on Labor Day weekend, they moved the packages to a back out of
order walk-in refer, though this did not get communicated all the way around
and consequently a few hikers may not have gotten their stuff. This
re-supply option costs nothing.
The second is to send to the Summit Inn. They charge perhaps $10, unless
you are staying at the hotel. The hotel cost, in the past, has been
outrageous and they watch very closely to see if you are hosting more people
than you should be. My neighbor, Kim, was the front desk manager. He got
fired because she helped a through hiker with something mundane. Ultimately
they begged her to come back and she has. If she is working that is good
and in the past she has taken weekends off. In the past she has charged a
more reasonable room rate of like $70, only to find out that when she
returned on Monday that someone else changed the price and charged the hiker
more.
Unfortunately, I have no idea if I will be around this summer. Ultimately I
hope to make things more friendly for hikers.
