[pct-l] Creating your own waypoint trail

There are several programs that will convert Google Earth's kml files to gpx
files. I also use ExpertGPS. I tried TopoFusion - it also converts filetypes
and has some interesting wrinkles. I remember trying several others before
settling on ExpertGPS.

When you get ready to convert the files from gpx to kml I recommend using
GPSBabel. While Google Earth will read gpx files it drops many of the
trackpoints used to draw tracks. This has been really frustrating when I
have been trying to draw detailed maps of trails.

Joel,
I use Expert GPS (www.expertgps.com) to convert from Google Earth to
.gpx, although GPSBabel should work also. Once the data is converted
to .gpx I use Garmin Mapsource or Garmin POI loader to send the data
to my Garmin GPS.
