If you ever get the opportunity to see Andy present, I highly encourage doing so.  I saw him when he was in San Diego in April and the presentation about his Alaska trip was fantastic.  I wish I had been able to attend his hands on gear and skills clinic the next day.  He's very knowledgeable, and a great speaker.

He hiked this distance in 176 days...no trails, freezing conditions, Grizzlies, the typical Alaskan wilderness. According to the article, the trek tested his limits and nearly broke him down. He has a lot of information on UL gear, food, and strategies on his web site. I think his accomplishments can't be compared to Adam Bradley's and Scott Williamson's who hiked the PCT in 65
days...also incredible!  So much to learn from all of them as well as people on this forum!

Andrew is going to be giving a presentation at the 30th Annual ALDHA Gathering:  <http://www.aldha.org/gathring.htm>

The Gathering (i.e. weekend conference for long-distance hikers) is going to be held in North Adams, MA this year October 7-9th.
