Double the food, half the miles

Does that mean twice the normal food intake per day so four times the amount  
of food you would consume to cover X miles of 'normal' trail?

Double the food that you would normally take and cut the miles in half...

Then just enjoy the scenery. Pretty soon you'll be back in the trees again 
at lower altitudes!
