[pct-l] Food in the Sierras

Tony,

One thing to consider is that you are not "required" to have your food in
your can until Cottonwood Pass. This means that you have the ability to
carry 2-2.5 days of food beyond what you can cram into your vault.

For this stretch of trail I am willing to eat a rather boring diet to
maximize my calories. This includes a lot of peanut butter, tortillas, mixed
nuts and olive oil. It may sound weird but I've been known to pause while on
a snowfield and knock back a few oz. of extra virgin to keep me going when
there's nowhere to take a break.
