That is inconvenient, however you can mail the can ahead from Donna's  
house up to Lone Pine or Kennedy Meadows.

By the way, you can mail bear canisters without putting them inside a  
box. You can also fill them full of stuff. You could stuff it with  
food or with extra insulation or traction aids or something like that  
and mail it ahead.

By the time you get to the high Sierra you are in such good shape you  
don't really notice the weight of the bear can. You do notice the  
awkward shape, however. If you are smart you will have honed down  
your gear by then to the least that you really need, so the net  
change in weight may actually be negative in comparison to what you  
start out with in Campo. Think positive!
