It doesn't matter how good I am at planning food there is always still an element of self-nausea because what it all has in common is that I picked it. All my rhymes are of the moon/June variety. My ultimate fantasy was always to send one of my typical San Francisco Rainbow Foods type packages to someone just about ready to complete the PCT. Mail it to Stehekin.
So I mailed one today to the hiker whose name rhymes with Zoey Tonka.
I sent:
Essex St. L'Amuse aged gouda, Dutch Beemster, Channa Masala, Aloo Palak, cherry vanilla granola, carob spirulina energy nuggets, dried pea green soup, dried lentil curry, rasberry muesli, dried pears, fried garden veggie chips, inca berries, olive oil, hazelnut butter, 5 packets of EmergenC, spicy Nori seaweed strips, Peace pasta parmesan, wasabi edemame, hickory primal vegan jerky, 18 rabbit granola bar, funky figs and cherry bar, a coconut pineapple bar, 3 packets hot chocolate, dried milk, 2 bags parmesan cheese, anchovies, tomato paste, 16 oz orzo pasta, can of mandarin oranges.
12.75 lbs is what the large priority box weighed.
After hiking the CDT this summer, the AT a couple years back, the hiker is now almost ready to complete the triple crown.
Today is one of my happiest days of PCT related activity thanks to my friend.
And thanks to everybody, especially trail crews, shuttle drivers and trail angels.
It would take a lifetime of hiking interaction to payback all the nice things that people
have done for me.....
