[pct-l] maps & software for Garmin & Mac

Now that I got my new Garmin etrex Vista Hcx I'm looking at maps and 
mapping software for use with it and my MacBook Pro.

I've got NG Topo! and the maps seem to be out of date and incomplete.
Some recommend Garmin's TOPO West.
Other recommend MacGPSPro with the MacTopos database.

I'd appreciate your experience with any of these.
