FWIW, a whole bunch of the PCT crosses land that is far from pristine
wilderness.

In fact this was one of my greatest realizations as I hiked the
Southern California sections. Anytime you get near a road, there are
beer cans, spent firearms casings, various bits of trash etc,

I'm not sure what the percentages are, but much of the trail is on BLM
multi use land, or private land, not USFS or NPS land.

While LNT is appropriate for the wilderness sections of the trial, a
whole bunch of it could use some cleaning.
