And the area south of Mt Ashland crosses a lot of slab rock where you're following cairns and making some sharp turns. If that's under snow, you'll need a GPS and good map and compass skills.

  I will be in the Ashland area until July 1 and can provide support with rides to and from the trail at Ashland. Cell: 541-864-0141. I think the trail from here to Crater Lake may be the best bet now. There  are large patches of snow south of Ashland up at Mt. Ashland where the PCT is.
