Sportkilt sells synthetic fabric kilts.  I have a Pacific Blue kilt, and love to hike in it.

Get a kilt or start wearing a dress. Actually I'm surprised that this hasn't 
become a fad for male distance hikers. 


For a less unobtrusive statement, just cut the underwear out of your shorts or 
don't wear underwear. If you hike in pants, well then think seriously about a 
kilt; preferably one not made of Scottish wool.
