Well put Donna. If I don't get a call from the Mission Viejo folks by
tomorrow I'll drive down and check the house and neighbors to see if anyone
knows anything.

Subject: [pct-l] PCT Hiker Winslow Frank

Wondering if anyone out there knows of/hiked with a fellow named Winslow
Frank. He mailed a package from Mission Viejo to Hiker Heaven in Agua Dulce
on June 24 that has a Mission Viejo return address. He also left two
messages about his package, along with his phone number, on June 23 & 24. I
never spoke with him. In his voicemail, he said he was getting back on the
trail after taking time off for a death in his family. However, he never
said where he was getting back on the trail, or when he expected to make it
to Hiker Heaven. I've several messages over the course of the past week to
Winslow Frank's phone number, which rolls directly to voicemail. None of my
calls have been returned. I'm concerned about Mr. Frank, though I have no
certainty if he's okay, not okay, or even if he's still on the trail.
Today, Burning Daylight called the Orange County Sheriff who sent a squad
car over to the return address on Mr. Frank's package in Mission Viejo.
There was no one there, but it is a holiday weekend so that's not so strange
by itself.

So, what to do? Not sure if he should have been here by now, because I
don't know where he started from. He's not technically overdue, because he
never gave a date of arrival in his messages. Don't want to hit the panic
button unnecessarily, but then again there are several troubling factors
about this. #1, July is not the time of year for the average hiker to be
planning to cross the Mojave (and the Station Fire detour puts you on a 45
mile roadwalk across part of the Mojave). #2 Mr. Frank sounded like a
senior gentleman. #3, there is no one out on the trail south of us - no one
we are aware of is still coming up the trail - so he's probably alone out
there. #4, there were sketchy, confusing, bulldozed messes, or just plain
missing signage for the Station Fire detour that caused hikers who weren't
tuned into online resources a fair amount of trouble.

Maybe if folks could check trail registers near them. Any point of
reference on Mr. Frank's whereabouts, starting point, exit point . . .
ANYTHING . . . would be very helpful. Hopefully he'll show up here, unaware
of any concern his hike is causing anyone else. That would be a relief.
Thanks.
