Here is another good reason to recycle your bottles frequently.
We use IV bottles with square sides because they fit well in the side 
pockets of our llama panniers.  However, after a few weeks  on a trail 
many of them are growing black algae inside, I guess from the algae in 
the water.  They are hard to clean.  Another good reason to use bottles 
you can change out easily.
