Bear spray is only effective when you spray it at the bear. Spraying your
campsite or your food or anything else only makes it tasty and easier to
smell. Remember that bear spray is just really strong pepperspray(not mace,
which is a completely different chemical), and pepperspray is made from the
active ingredient in hot peppers. People like spicy food, and so do bears.
