[pct-l] New Balance

I am not (yet) a really long distance hiker.
In 2009 I did ~50 miles in NB 1123s and a bit less in 2010 in a second pair
of them. I also wear them when walking and hiking on local trails through
out the year, usually without a backpack load. In my experience they stand
up quite well although my use probably is not equivalent to `1000+ miles on
the PCT. I am satisfied with their durability and life.

I selected these because they fit my feet -- which very few models and/or
styles of shoes do. My feet are wide in the toes and ball of foot and a
narrow heel. The New Balance shoes that fit fairly well use the SL2 last so
that is the first test. New Balance shoes are about the only ones that come
in various widths and I currently wear a 4E. For more on lasts, etc. look
thru the archives.
