ELEVATIONS have just been added to the PCT map. You now have over 12,000
mileage/elevation pairs; that's almost 5 per mile! The mileages are
calculated from 257,285 trail coordinates from the USFS kml.
Also, an update to the 'mouse click' behavior. If you click on the trail
(blue line) at 2 different locations, the second click will give you the
distance between those 2 points as well as the time it takes to hike it at
different hiking speeds.
Here's the PCT:

...and the Grand Enchantment Trail:

Even though adding elevations is done by the computer, it is a very time
consuming process. The Appalachian Trail and the John Muir trail maps will
have elevations in a day or two, they already have mileages.
If you find this feature too much on an older, slower computer click the
'Hide Distances' link. This will cause the maps to behave as they did before
the addition of mileages/elevations.
