[pct-l] Finish thru-hike in mid-August?

Good afternoon, RO-del,

Starting mid-April means troublesome snow will likely be encountered in
south and central California. Finishing early August will result in
approximately 110 elapsed calendar days, meaning there will be the
equivalent of around 100 actual full hiking days. If you can reliably
average 26.6 miles per day you have a reasonable shot at completing a
thru-hike. Some people can do that: This year two hikers finished in less
than 67 days, but they had the demonstrated ability to hike the required 40
miles per day. Most of us can’t.

Everyone’s situation and desires are different, but I can’t relate to the
idea that if I couldn’t complete a thru-hike it’s just not worth hiking any
of it.

Enjoy your hiking season, whatever it may be.
