For camera reviews, see dpreview.com and kenrockwell.com.  Ken's site is very good.  He is biased towards Nikon SLRs and expensive Leica rangefinders.  He is partial to Canon digital point and shoot cameras, which are backpacker's cameras of choice due to weight and size.

I just replaced my dead Lumix with a Panasonic DMC-LX3.  The photos  
are sumptuous, although it is really difficult to find one in stock  
anywhere in the US right now.  There is a detailed review of the  
camera on Backpacking Light's website.
