[pct-l] JMT in October

October is (usually) a lovely time in the High Sierra. Few people, no bugs,
fall colors, usually good weather.

But you're right about resupply; the higher resorts (Reds Meadow, VVR, MTR)
are usually closed by then. That just means if you want to resupply you'll
have to hike/hitch into a year-round town, such as Mammoth Lakes (go out
over Mammoth Pass or Minaret Summit, near Reds Meadow), Toms Place/Crowley
Lake (this is sketchier than the other places, but to get there go out over
Mono Pass, south of Silver Pass), Bishop (Bishop Pass, south of Muir Pass),
or Independence (Kearsarge Pass, south of Glen Pass).
