The gaiters to wear are from http://dirtygirlgaiters.com/ . You will  
look stylish while you are keeping the larger particles out of your  
shoes. Your feet, if you wear trail runners, will have a distinctive  
triangular pattern of cleanliness right where the gaiters are.  
Everything else will be completely dirty.

My gaiters lasted 1800 miles and are still going, although I had to  
repair them once with dental floss and they are ready to be fixed  
again. You might want to buy two pair.
