Another installment of snow-related concerns has been posted on our Forum at Postholer. http://postholer.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=25
This one is a discussion of whether or not to use snowshoes in the Springtime Sierra.

Give it a read and let us know what you'd like us to write about next. We hope to cover the list of "Snow Concerns" outlined in the thread "Snow Concerns" therein by the end of February, so you have time to practice what you've understood on our free, 3-day, snow skills training Courses you've already heard about. If you haven't, you'll see a description of them there, also (Mountain Education's Snow Course Description).

Remember, the best thing you can do to ensure your safe and pleasurable thru hike is to get out and hike a lot in the worst of expected conditions. Test yourself, your gear, and food. See what works for you. Don't rely on what worked for the others who went before you without trying it for yourself. Rent gear. Cook your food at home before you take it out on the trail for 4 to 6 months. Preparation for the realities of the trail is the key to a successful journey.

If you're ready for the worst, everything else will be cake!
