[pct-l] Where to start?

Hi Laura,

Personally, I would start again from the beginning. Not because those miles
matter for their own sake. But because it will give you more time to prep
for the Sierra and get back into shape before the trail gets really hard. If
you start at Agua Dulce you will be jumping right into the big snow-covered
passes in just a couple of weeks.

Those first 500 miles make a ready good "training ground" for the rest of
the hike. And since you have already done it before, you will be surprised
at how easy it is the second time around (now that you know what to expect
from the desert).

There are also a lot more opportunities for socializing and resting
(Kickoff, trail angels, lots of towns) in Socal than further north. I think
it's an important part of the experience physically, mentally and
emotionally and I wouldn't want to bypass it.

Happy trails!

Subject: [pct-l] Where to start?

Hi All,

I tried my hand at thru hiking in '09 but got as far as Agua Dulce due to
calendaring issues etc. ?I have one more year off from work and want to try
again in 2010. ?My question is do I start where I left off or do I start the
whole darn thing over again? ?Looking for some sage advice on those that
have been in a similar situation.

Thanks, Laura
