I am a Californian and can offer a suggestion. Getting to Kennedy Meadows will be pretty difficult as it is remote and unless you find someone who just happens to be going there, you're probably out of luck. Lone Pine, however, is on 395 off of the 15 and there are still people heading to Mammoth for spring skiing and they go right through Lone Pine. Check out some ski blogs if you can find them and check on ski buses to Mammoth. There may be a couple still running on Friday afternoon/evening out of L.A.
